About The Game

Mandate Order is a city building Strategy and Simulation game developed and published by Digital Sky. The project puts the player in the role of a regional ruler during the Warring States era of ancient China, a period remembered for rivalry between seven kingdoms. The province starts as wild, undeveloped territory that has to be turned into a thriving settlement.

Free form placement sits at the core of the builder. Residential quarters, wells, workshops, granaries and defensive walls can be put anywhere without snapping to a fixed grid. This gives every district a natural look and leaves room for personal layouts. Expanding the city means balancing housing, food production, trade and military spending, since each new building draws from the shared resource pool. Roads and market squares connect the districts, and a well timed expansion keeps the workforce busy without emptying the treasury.

State management relies on hired advisors tied to different philosophical schools. Legalism, Confucianism, Taoism and Mohism offer distinct bonuses in Mandate Order. Assigning these thinkers to the right departments shapes internal policy, because their placement affects tax income, public order, research speed and the loyalty of the people. The composition of the cabinet matters as much as the borders of the settlement. Each school also brings its own events, so the ideal cabinet changes as the campaign moves forward.

Military conflict unfolds on a real time global map where thousands of detailed soldiers clash in large battles. Maneuvering works by drawing movement lines directly on the screen, which simplifies coordination of infantry formations and siege engines during fortress assaults. Units keep formation on their way to the target, and defensive walls can be breached with prepared artillery pieces. War is not the only burden, since changing seasons force the player to adjust farming to the weather, and rituals of worship must be performed in time to receive blessings from heaven.

The blend of a free form city planner, philosophical advisors and long term province management gives the strategy a dense historical feel. The pace stays readable for players who prefer a hands on approach to construction, while the scope keeps the weight of a grand strategy. Digital Sky keeps updating the project, and the current build preserves all core systems of the release.
