About The Game

Developed by Nerra Tolstoï and FLaV and published by HPTD Entertainment, Depth Diver is an action adventure game with strategy elements about working in the worst workplace imaginable. You are a diver with a sentence to serve and a debt to pay, sent into the terrifying depths of Gornak on missions for the Gornacian Metallurgical Union. The dark waters hold decaying infrastructure and hungry local fauna, and your only safe haven is a cutting edge submarine where you can breathe, plan and pray to Stiska for survival. Whether you sink alone or with a crew of friends, the game promises an unforgiving underwater nightmare where things inevitably go wrong and somebody has to swim back with the bad news.

The gameplay is a cycle of risk and reward. Missions for the Union include fixing broken pipes, replacing highly defective equipment and, in the grimmest contracts, gathering the scattered remains of divers who failed before you. Each dive is a logistics puzzle wrapped in horror: manage your own oxygen supply, watch the darkness for movement, finish the job at hand and climb back before the local fauna decides that you are dinner. Co op with friends changes the tone, since one diver can stand guard while another repairs, yet the depth does not care about numbers, and the developers warn that being the last one drowning is a common outcome. Between dives, the submarine serves as a safe hub for rest, upgrades and preparation for harder contracts. Among the most interesting features are the heavy underwater movement, the sound design of things approaching from the dark, the pressure of simple honest jobs and the union of horror, action and strategy in one package. The project openly aims at players who fear the deep and want to face that fear anyway, alone or in company.
