About The Game

Built by Lazy Cat Games as an action role playing project with adventure pacing, Tears of Vanfell is a dungeon crawler that mixes roguelike structure with hack and slash combat. A wide cast of playable characters stands at the foot of a mysterious Mountain, and the goal is simple to state and hard to achieve: climb it, clear what waits on the way and see the end of the story. The Mountain is procedurally generated, so every attempt builds a fresh path of rooms, hazards, treasures and enemies. The game was released on September 25, 2026 and supports both a solo campaign and company for groups, which makes it equally friendly for lone players and for a party of friends on voice chat.

The gameplay is a loop of preparation and descent. Before each expedition you return to the campsite, choose a hero, adjust the loadout and either invite up to three friends for online co op with a party of four, or bring one of the camp members along as a companion. Inside the Mountain, combat rewards fast weapon swapping: every character carries several weapons and can trade blows mid combo, switching from slow heavy strikes to quick flurries as the situation demands. Bosses guard the key floors and demand honest pattern learning, while gold and loot make each run a little stronger, and permanent upgrades carry progress from attempt to attempt, so even a failed climb feeds the next one. Among the most interesting features are the distinct hero roster, the option to play the whole campaign alone or with friends, the generated layout that keeps repeat climbs fresh and the clear final goal that gives the grind a direction. Fans of hack and slash dungeon crawlers get a complete package here, with a satisfying climb and a proper ending waiting at the top.
