About The Game

Yellow Smile built CH13 Rest Stop, a short psychological horror game set on a Polish backroad in the early 2000s. Wojciech is 32, a new father who has not slept properly in months, and one long meeting has already cost him the hotel night he should have taken. His wife has come down with a cold, and the thought of leaving her alone with their daughter pushes him onto the road at the wrong hour. The main highway closes after an accident, so a narrow forest detour he has never driven becomes the only way home. Driving and walking carry equal weight, and the route grows less reliable the longer he keeps going. There is no combat and no chase, only headlights, signage and a man who cannot hold his eyes open. The experience is linear and takes about one hour, which makes pacing the real subject rather than content volume. Two controls, the wheel and the feet, are the entire verb list, and the game spends its time making both of them feel unreliable. Nothing is assembled as a scare set piece; the tension comes from exhaustion bleeding into the road until the border between the two stops holding. Audio does more work than the visuals here, and the low light interiors are worth running with headphones rather than speakers.
