About The Game
Retail Hell asks a simple question. What if your worst retail nightmare was not an angry customer but a store that is alive and hungry. This 2026 horror simulation management puzzle game from LEAP Game Studios, Midnighters, and Gamirror Games follows a temporary worker who accepts a night shift at a big box store that has been abandoned for years, yet somehow still operates. The latest version adds a time loop mechanic, if you die, you restart the same shift, but the store remembers your previous actions and changes its traps.
Management is about balancing your energy between mandatory tasks and investigating the store’s secrets. Simulation realism includes a detailed employee handbook that becomes a puzzle tool. Horror comes from the familiar becoming strange, a price scanner that speaks in whispers, a shopping cart that follows you on its own. Puzzle design integrates with the environment, you might need to stock a specific brand of cereal to unlock a hidden door, or arrange products by expiration date to reveal a code. The game has no combat, only stealth and evasion. The art style uses sickly green and yellow lighting, evoking the feeling of an overnight shift under cheap fluorescents. The soundtrack features a single droning fan and distant intercom static.
