About The Game

Over five hundred million years of Earth's history lie under the mask in Paleo Dive, an atmospheric VR diving adventure from developer and publisher Astra Render. The oceans it explores vanished millions of years ago, and the player is the first person to see them again.

Five handcrafted underwater environments wait in the game: a Cambrian lagoon, colorful reefs, dense kelp forests, and the darkness of the deep sea. Each location holds its own slice of prehistoric life, and together they form a research route through deep time.

Movement is physical. The player swims by moving their arms naturally, pulls along suitable surfaces, and collects discoveries by hand. Oxygen is the clock of every dive, and returning to the research base in time is part of the job. The deep sea is dark, the kelp forests are dense, and every dive tests the player's nerve as much as the oxygen tank. On higher difficulty settings, dangerous creatures add a layer of tension to the exploration.

The research loop gives the dives purpose. Forty eight species wait to be photographed, DNA samples feed the science, and the walk in aquarium at the base grows with every successful expedition. The research is the reward, and the aquarium is the trophy room. Every new species photographed is a permanent addition to the collection, and the drive to complete it keeps the dives coming. Equipment upgrades reach deeper water and allow longer dives.

The game is quiet, beautiful, and unassuming, and that is its strength. Paleo Dive arrived on 04 September 2026 and is aimed at VR players who want exploration with a scientific calm, where the danger is real but the wonder is bigger. The past is still waiting under the surface, and the mask is the only way in.
