About The Game

MOUSE P I For Hire is a first-person shooter developed by Fumi Games that brings the aesthetic of 1930s cartoons to life in black-and-white, hand-drawn rubber-hose animation, frame by frame. You play as Jack Pepper, a war veteran turned private detective who becomes embroiled in a noir mystery involving corruption, kidnapping, and murder in the town of Mouseburg. The game combines dynamic FPS combat with exploration across more than 20 levels spanning dark streets, film studios, opera houses, swamps, and sewers.

Combat emphasizes constant movement; over a dozen cartoon-inspired weapons and powerful one-time upgrades provide chaotic action reminiscent of boomer-era shooters. The single-player campaign features unlockable movement abilities like wall running, grappling hook, and double jump, while the Metroidvania style level design encourages backtracking and exploration. You'll battle heavily armed gangs, corrupt police officers, and engage in intense boss fights while searching for clues and collectibles throughout the city. A noir-style detective story unfolds as you uncover a conspiracy lurking beneath the surface of Mausburg, battling mice, rats, and shrews. An original big-band jazz soundtrack accompanies the vintage cartoon chaos, complementing the retro atmosphere.
