No base, no build queue, no economy screen: just battalions on a field and a decision about where the line should stand. Veterans Napoleonic Wars is a real time strategy game from Tactical Boar that puts thousands of soldiers and dozens of battalions under one cursor, and it asks for formations rather than clicks per second. The campaigns follow Napoleon through Italy, Egypt, Austerlitz and Wagram, so the fights move across a good part of Europe. Briefings before each battle set the objective and the ground, so a player knows what the corps is expected to do before the first order goes out. The map between battles shows where the next fight sits. This page carries the system requirements, screenshots of the formations and a gameplay video, and that footage makes the scale easier to read than any written description can.

Line, column and square are the three shapes that matter, and the game models why each one exists: a square holds cavalry, a column moves faster and a line puts more muskets on target. Morale, fatigue and line of sight feed into the result, and so do rain, mud and the smoke from every cannon shot, which thickens as the battle goes on and narrows the fog of war. Ammunition runs out, and when it does the order becomes a melee push that can break a formation as easily as it breaks the enemy. Unit choice sets the plan: cuirassiers break a line, light infantry harasses from woodland cover. Cavalry punishes a flank that turns, and artillery punishes a line that stands still. Veteran units are the ones that survive, and they can be developed and customized between battles. Build numbers and patch notes sit on the store page, and the roadmap there names a dynamic campaign for a later version.
