About The Game

Nightwater is a contemplative first person adventure simulation game focused on factory building and automation, heavily inspired by classical incremental games and sandbox resource managers. The player wakes up on a mysterious isolated island enclosed by sheer cliffs, where your ultimate goal is to journey toward a distant lighthouse at the edge of the world to uncover its deeply personal secrets. At the very beginning, you must forage for basic sticks and stones by hand, but by unlocking new technologies, you progress your efficiency through the ages from primitive tools to the Bronze Age, the Industrial Era, and far into the future.

Hitting specific production targets allows you to manifest completely new biomes into existence, expand your territory, and uncover over twenty types of unique raw materials to scale up your operations.The core gameplay mechanics center around constructing various automated structures like automated farmers, assemblers, and storage units, linking them together with complex pipelines to create self sustaining production chains. The building loop is highly dynamic, giving you the freedom to build over sixty machines and move or deconstruct them at any given moment with absolutely zero loss of resources.

While your factory handles the heavy lifting in the background, you can spend your time progressing through five unique optional minigames, each featuring its own independent mechanics, item upgrades, and progression tracks that reward you with permanent production buffs and building recipes for the main world. What makes the game truly fascinating is its subtle storytelling approach, because the narrative is never handed to you directly, forcing players to piece together hidden clues and read between the lines to unlock hidden areas and reach one of four distinct endings.
