About The Game

Road to Empress casts players as a young woman in the imperial court of the Tang Dynasty, where every move lays the foundation for a potential rise to power. The primary objective is to survive in a complex political landscape, a place concealing webs of intrigue and dangerous secrets behind a gilded façade. This cinematic palace adventure hinges entirely on the decisions you make: misplaced trust can lead to betrayal and death. Players will explore nearly 100 storylines, confronting high mortality rates and using charm and wisdom to outwit their enemies. The ultimate goal is to rise from obscurity to become the legendary Empress Wu Zetian.

All gameplay in Road to Empress is built on footage shot on real sets with live actors, creating an interactive story. Behind the scenes of court life, the protagonist uncovers hidden scandals: a prince's affair with a singer, a princess's secret lover, and the presence of vengeful spirits in the abandoned Cold Palace. Each playthrough offers up to eight hours of content, with choices directly impacting the narrative and the protagonist's development. Actions formed a special Trait Sketch reflecting the choices made, and collected artifacts allow one to uncover secret plots, revealing new layers of court intrigue.
