Breathedge 2 — Space can take itself too seriously, can’t it? «Oh, look at me in all my incalculable immensity, bow to my incomprehensible astrophysical phenomena». Get over yourself. It’s time for a game like Breathedge 2 to treat the outer reaches of our exploration domain with the derision it deserves. Because when we are faced with the true nature of our place in it, the random bloody chance of existing at all, let alone a decent job, a good career, clean underwear and friends, the only rational response is absurdity. Douglas Adams knew it, and so did RedRuins Softworks, returning with another slice of uniquely fun space survival in Breathedge 2. While the first game limited your abuse of the immortal chicken on a stick given the setting, Breathedge 2 expands your exploration area.

We’d like the player to experience a more space-like experience, with the ability to float aimlessly and scavenge anywhere. It won’t be a completely open world with fair flights between planets in the void and certain resources, ship parts or tools may be required for long flights, but it definitely won’t be a corridor. The first game saw you play as The Man on his humble mission to deliver his grandfather’s ashes to a galactic funeral, only to soon find himself embroiled in sinister forces far beyond his control. Against all odds although the cards are on the table, I’m not sure what the immortal chicken’s involvement does with any sense of mathematical probability you survived and returned home, where 240 years of hard labor awaited you as your reward. Breathedge 2 begins with The Man planning a suicide mission to the farthest reaches of space so that he and his crew can decapitate an army of coffins hell-bent on enslaving humanity, saving the day, themselves.
