The game Age of Empires II Definitive Edition The Viking Sagas is a massive story driven expansion for the legendary historical real time strategy masterpiece. The story line of this downloadable content is completely centered on the Viking Age and the brutal northern conquests of medieval Europe. In the heart of the narrative is the epic saga of Harald Hardrada, who travels a long and dangerous path from an exiled Norwegian prince to a powerful ruler and conqueror. Players will immerse themselves in the atmosphere of massive naval raids, fierce battles across the snowy lands of Scandinavia, serving as mercenaries in distant Constantinople, and a daring invasion of the British shores to claim the English crown.

The gameplay and mechanics are built upon the classic foundation of base building, resource gathering, technology researching, and real time army commanding. The expansion introduces three brand new fully playable factions with unique strategic strengths, which include the fast raiding Danes, the strongly fortified Saxons, and the highly flexible mercenary Varangians. Every single side of the conflict features its own special combat units, like the Danish Jomsvikings who hurl burning torches at buildings, or the Varangian Jarls who efficiently shred enemy foot soldiers with axes while riding horses. Among the interesting and unique features is a massive interconnected fifteen mission campaign where interactive player decisions carry real weight and cause ripple effects throughout the story. Additionally the developers added regional units like elite shock guards who literally generate gold while fighting, new huntable wild animals, and a fresh northern European architectural style.
