About The Game

The casual RPG Slayblade is a run-based battle-top game from Henry's House, the studio behind Nanomon Virtual Pet, Kardboard Kings, and Desert Child. The goal is to build your own battle-top and become King of the Streets. You skate around a vibrant Y2K city, winning cash and upgrades on the way to the top, and the tagline sets the stakes with a grin: if you die in the game, you die in real life.

The loop is built around your blade. You battle it with supremely satisfying controls, spend the cash you win to buy new parts, and then hunt for insane combos with everything you unlock. More than 60 parts wait to be collected, and merging their powers is the road to dominating your opponents. Betting your lunch money on a fight is part of the culture, and so is breaking the occasional law on the street corner.

The whole game can be played with a mouse and a left click, which keeps the battles snappy and easy to pick up. The visuals are colorful and lo-fi, set in a miniature PS1-style city with hand-drawn character art and a soundtrack that leans hard into the 2000s. There is no big story mode here, just a brief intro and outro cutscene, and no multiplayer either. The replay value lives in the parts, the combos, and the climb.

The city also needs saving from a rich loser, and your blade is the tool for the job. It is a chill roguelite that knows exactly what it wants to be: a pocket-sized arena of spinning tops, small fortunes, and street-corner glory, wrapped in nostalgia and good music.

Slayblade was released on Steam on August 20, 2026. It is a playful pick for anyone who ever flicked a spinning top across a desk and wished it had stats.
