About The Game
Bravely Default Flying Fairy returns in an HD remake - it's not just a graphical overhaul the game features a redesigned interface, two new minigames, and the ability to rewind cutscenes. The gist is this. It's a classic JRPG with one big feature: the Brave/Default system. You can save up your moves while defending, then unleash several attacks in a row on your enemy. Or, conversely, spend them early and leave yourself defenseless. Mindlessly pressing attacks isn't an option here. At the core of the game are twenty professions: Warrior, Black Mage, Thief, Monk, and so on. You can combine them to create unique builds for each of the four heroes. The soundtrack was composed by Revo, the same guy who worked on Attack on Titan.
The plot is standard for the genre, but it's well-crafted. The world of Luxendarc is torn apart by a Great Rift. You play as Tiz, a resident of a destroyed village. He teams up with the Vestal Virgin Agnes to save the world. They are joined by other heroes and the crystal fairy Eiri. Their task is to explore the continent, close the Rift, purify the elemental crystals, and understand what's really going on. The remake has a modern feel, but the game's soul remains the same. It's a tactical, leisurely JRPG for those who miss the classics. If you played the original on 3DS, there aren't any radically new surprises here. But if you missed it, now's the perfect time to check it out.
