About The Game
World of One — at first glance, this game is simply trying to reproduce the eerie atmosphere of famous games like Limbo, Inside, and Little Nightmares. But here the creators managed to fill the world with decorations in the style of Tim Burton, with ash gray mixed with bright and black and white shades. The only splashes of color are bloodstains from many, many deaths. This does not mean that comparison with other games is a disadvantage for World of One. The niche for well-crafted, puzzle platformers, as sinister as hell itself, hasn’t grown enough over the past few years to flood the market. Considering this, World of One has its merits, because the developer has implemented his ideas very well in the game. Here, the story takes shape slowly, falling into place like pieces of a puzzle, although World of One relies heavily on symbolic gestures and imagery rather than telling you directly about what’s going on.Interestingly, World of One does not offer the traditional A-B to get through the levels. Each level is literally a small world focused on its own game mechanics or concept. The puzzles are well thought out and challenging some require real trial and error. Death comes quickly, although thankfully World of One has a rich checkpoint system that takes some of the frustrations off after a player’s character is impaled by spikes, disfigured by zombified dogs, or blown up. Despite the challenges of combat, World of One is still an enjoyable game, and thankfully, it focuses on puzzle solving and platform building. The gameplay and aesthetics are complemented by excellent sound design and eerie music. In boss battles, fateful tracks are introduced, which intensify as the battles progress, which naturally leads to increased tensions.
