About The Game

Spellcaster University Gears and Gobelins is a simulation and strategy expansion from Sneaky Yak Studio that opened the Steam Age chapter of Spellcaster University on September 26, 2026. This content pack returns you to the halls of a magical school that suddenly runs on noisy steam machines, and asks you to strike a strange bargain with a goblin engineer who can hand you powerful new cards at the cost of a little temporary chaos in your academy. The new chapter pushes the campus toward an icy expanse and a toxic canyon, two harsh frontiers where cold and radiation threaten your students and demand clever preparation. You bargain with mammoth folk for warm clothes, watch over pupils coping with strange mutations, and help the Goblin King with his troubles. It is a fresh slice of the base game universe rather than a simple cosmetic drop, and it expands the core loop with a whole new set of rooms, artifacts, familiars and equipment.

The gameplay revolves around the new adjacency rules of the goblin rooms, where placing chambers next to each other in the right pattern unlocks stronger bonuses for your school. You hire goblins to maintain the steam machines and earn nine new rooms, eight new artifacts, three new familiars and two new pieces of equipment to mix into your strategy. Better still, every room from the base game now has rare and legendary variants, each carrying a special buff that lets you specialize the academy in a direction of your own choosing. The two new biomes test that build in different ways: the ice expanse forces you to negotiate with mammoth folk and purchase woolly hats and scarves for your students, while the toxic canyon confronts you with a radioactive lake and pupils who develop mutations you must manage. Working alongside the goblins to beat the biting cold and assist the Goblin King turns the expansion into a proper strategic challenge rather than a light addition.
