About The Game

Soggy Beans is a calming side idler about watching fish, developed by the small studio RATMODE. The concept is essentially bird watching, only underwater, because colorful visitors come and go in your personal piece of the ocean exactly as they please. The project was born from a simple desire to create a low intensity game that can live happily beside your other activities, running quietly while you check email, sit through meetings, or even play something else at the same time. There is no pressure, no timer, and no way to lose, which makes the experience closer to a digital aquarium for relaxation than to a conventional challenge. New fish of all shapes and sizes appear over time, and spotting an unfamiliar guest for the first time becomes the small daily joy at the heart of the game.

The gameplay revolves around observation, collecting memories, and gentle decoration. Every fish you notice can be recorded in a journal that grows with each sighting, complete with profiles you keep updating as you learn more about your regular guests. The camera lets you capture photos of memorable moments and use them as profile pictures in the journal or as stickers in a personal scrapbook. Beans are the currency of this little world, and the fish themselves knock them loose by pushing a special machine, sometimes generously and sometimes not at all, so collecting feels playful instead of forced. Earned beans and found items feed into decoration, where a wide variety of furniture pieces lets you build your own corner of the ocean. Objects can be stacked creatively, saved as blueprints, and combined with different backgrounds, turning each aquarium into a personal project. The whole loop is designed for short friendly sessions or hours of idle company, and that easygoing rhythm is exactly what makes this simulation so comforting.
