About The Game

Plan B Terraform Worlds of Fire and Water is a science fiction expansion for the planetary management simulator Plan B Terraform, created by Gaddy Games. The add on trades the familiar green worlds of the base game for two extremes that could hardly be more different. The first is a harsh volcanic planet plagued by constant eruptions and extreme heat, where industry must survive the ground it stands on. The second is a fully oceanic world covered by endless water, in which only a handful of tiny islands await the arrival of your machines. In both cases the mission of the series remains the same, turn a hostile planet into a living paradise through logistics, industry, and patient climate engineering, but the road to that goal has never been so dramatic.

The gameplay of the two worlds introduces problems that the original never asked. On the Fire World there are no ordinary mineral deposits at all, yet cooling lava slowly creates mineral rich basalt that can be extracted, so eruptions become part of the production chain. Extreme temperatures force the player to neutralize greenhouse gases in the atmosphere with new terraforming tools and to launch solar shade satellites into orbit. Fresh water arrives from a few small geysers at first, and later from rockets that haul giant ice comets to melt into oceans. The Water World flips the formula, since the planet must be carefully cooled so the ice caps grow and the sea level drops, revealing new land for expansion, while dams and terrain reshaping add even more dry ground. Minerals there dissolve into the ocean, and special filters harvest them straight from the seawater touching the floor. Both planets reward long term planning of production chains, transport networks, and climate projects, and the calm meditative pace of the base game returns with even grander engineering puzzles.
