About The Game

City building meets roguelike structure in Combolands, a turn based strategy title from Crux Games, which developed and published it. The game is a small package with deep strategy inside. You grow a mini metropolis, place buildings, unlock powerful synergies, and trigger cascading combos run after run. The result feels like a puzzle where every tile matters.

Every session starts with a brand new procedural island and a fresh choice. A pantheon of seven guilds waits in the game, each with its own identity, strengths, and drawbacks. You pick two different guilds for every run and combine them into one of 21 possible combinations. The choice of guilds shapes the entire direction of the run from the first building. New guilds unlock as you play.

The core loop mixes deckbuilder and citybuilder mechanics. A tiny hamlet grows into a thriving city as you construct from a catalog of more than 120 buildings. More than 100 passive heirlooms enhance your build along the way. Each placement feeds the next, creating chains of bonuses that cascade across the island. Upgrades change the behavior of your buildings, while potions can reshape the map itself.

Support comes from the people you recruit. More than 13 city councillors offer their own progressions and abilities, adding another layer of planning. Recruiting the right councillor at the right moment can turn a struggling settlement into a machine of efficiency. The satisfying rush of growing numbers keeps every decision rewarding.

Runs are designed for short bursts of around 30 minutes, which makes each attempt easy to start and hard to stop. Ten increasingly challenging ranks give long term goals, and every failure teaches you to break the game and refine your strategy. You can experiment freely, since every new run brings a different map and a different pair of guilds. Combolands turns a quiet island into a city for the ages.
