An isolated stretch of land, a silent tower, and a glow hidden somewhere beneath the ground. That is the world of The Lantern of the Laughless Saint, an open world RPG created by NerveLabs in the tradition of classic Morrowind style adventures.

The player washes ashore without memories of arrival. A single obsessive thought remains: find the light hidden in the depths. The tower rises in the center of the island, and the lantern inside it carries a name that no one can explain. Rumors claim that the light was hidden by a saint who stopped laughing a long time ago. The island itself becomes the story. Its past is told through fragments of a lost chronicle, through rumors passed between locals, and through the strangest residents you will ever meet. A giant toad is learning to read. An ancient skeleton dreams of swimming. Both have their own stories to share.

Exploration is the heart of the game. You cross open land, enter underground ruins, and clear dungeons packed with hostile creatures. Combat and discovery go hand in hand, and the world reacts to what you do. Decisions shape the environment directly. The audience in the underground amphitheater is formed by your actions, and the tone of the story bends around your choices.

Kindness materializes loyal allies who stand with you. Cruelty attracts dark phantoms that follow your footsteps. Both paths are valid, and both lead to different endings. The moral weight of every encounter stays with you until the final scene.

The whole campaign can be played with a partner in co-op. Your companion shares the dangers of survival and the joy of discovered treasures. Dungeon clearing, resource hunting and moral decisions all work together, which makes the experience calmer with two players at the screen.

The Lantern of the Laughless Saint mixes exploration, RPG systems and cooperative play into a dense dark fantasy package for players who like their worlds strange and their choices heavy.
