When a new VR shooter appears, the first question is always the same: is there real immersion or is VR just a label on the store page. In the case of GERONIMO, the answer is unequivocal - immersion is there, and it is felt from the first minutes of the game. The game was developed and published by Dark Matter Studios in 2026. A small team, but with an obvious understanding of what makes a VR shooter interesting. They didn't try to pack everything into the game. Instead, they took one idea: a combat situation in virtual reality should make you move, think and react just as you would move, think and react if it were happening in reality. And they built the game around that.

The mechanics of interacting with weapons are carefully worked out. Reloading, aiming, changing position all this happens through physical movements, not through pressing buttons. To some, this may seem like a trifle, but this is what separates a good VR shooter from a mediocre one. When you physically hide behind cover and literally lean out to look and aim, the level of tension is completely different from a regular game.

The levels are diverse in layout and provide different experiences even in similar situations. The enemy AI behaves unpredictably enough so that it doesn't feel like you're just practicing the same scenario over and over. GERONIMO is a game worth trying if you have a VR headset and don't mind a good pace and physical activity during the game. For the genre, this is one of the more honest and well-focused releases of 2026.
