About The Game

Stonemachia is a dark, souls-like adventure game from indie developer Crossfall Games that blends chess mechanics with Italian-inspired gothic horror. You play as Zephyro, a chess pawn capable of transforming into various chess pieces, each offering unique armor sets and combat abilities that dramatically alter your playstyle. Set in a world devastated by the Angel Plague, you'll journey through abandoned, forgotten lands in a Dante-esque world, traversing the kingdom of Medhelan.

In combat, you'll face armies of angels embodied in animated statues and objects drawn from Italian art and folklore, creating an unsettling fusion of Renaissance aesthetics and supernatural horror. The shield system plays a vital tactical role, capable of turning the tide of complex battles rather than simply serving as a defense. Each transformation into a chess piece unlocks unique armor sets with special abilities, encouraging experimentation to overcome a variety of threats. Your ultimate goal is to unravel the mystery behind the chess pieces and help Zephyro on his epic journey to return to Heaven. The games atmosphere draws heavily on dark, oppressive environments reminiscent of both Dante's Divine Comedy and Italy's rich cultural heritage.
