Chasmal Fear is a first-person action-survival horror game presented through a body camera interface. Gamers will explore a sci-fi underwater station, the Magnus Complex, which seems abandoned under unclear circumstances. The core of the gameplay is the management of strictly limited ammunition supplies, which forces you to carefully consider your actions before a clash. Augmented reality helps navigate the corridors of the structure.

In Chasmal Fear, enemies have a special feature: some defeated creatures are able to unpredictably transform into more dangerous versions, changing previously cleared locations. The mutation system requires finishing off enemies before they begin to transform. The decisions made directly shape the further path; choosing one route often makes others inaccessible, affecting subsequent skirmishes and available tactical options, from direct combat to using cover. The title supports single-player mode or co-op with a partner, adjusting the difficulty to the gamer's playing style.

Exploration involves more than just moving along corridors; The player must uncover the backstory of the complex by finding and interpreting various clues: emails, audio recordings, and video logs. These elements form the story of the underwater city of Magnus and reveal the nature of the current threats. In addition, random events in the environment, such as collapsed structures or the sudden appearance of enemies, add variety to the gameplay during repeated visits.
