The Return of Edward Kenway: Assassins Creed Black Flag Resynced sold 3 million copies in a week

About The Game
Ubisoft is finally having a holiday! It seems that the bet on nostalgia has worked out perfectly: just a week after its release, the updated Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has sold 3 million copies. Moreover, the game "grabbed" the first 2 million during its launch day. Now it's clear why eleven studios, led by Ubisoft Singapore, worked hard on the project. The work done is colossal, and the return of the charismatic pirate Edward Kenway 13 years after the original was truly a sensation. The game has already broken the series record on Steam for peak online play.
Why isn't this just a lazy remaster?
This time, the developers didn't just tweak the textures on the new Anvil engine, they also brought in fresh content. Here are some cool facts you should know:
- Return of the legendary screenwriter: Darby McDevitt (the author of the original game's plot) returned to write two brand new scenes and tweak one old one. In particular, the developers delved deeper into Edward's relationship with his wife Caroline, and also expanded the storylines of Blackbeard and Steed Bonnet.
- No DLC about Adewale: The developers decided to focus entirely on Edward's adventures in the Caribbean, so the Freedom Cry add-on was not included here.
There were also scandals
Players have traditionally found something to "scold" Ubisoft for. The main topic of hate was the paid Day-1 DLC. A set of additional skins and cosmetics on the release day costs a total of $85 — even more than the game itself for $60! Users gave the game a light review bombing, but even that didn't stop the company from earning an additional million dollars solely from the sales of these packs on Steam.
Yo-ho-ho, a bottle of rum for these guys, they deserve it!
