Vampyr is another Dontnod game that has gained popularity through Life is Strange’s narrative adventure series. This time, the developers decided to try a slightly different setting and even the genre in their new project. The basis of the game is the idea of a third-person role-playing action, while the entourage itself is a picture of gloomy London in 1918.According to the idea of the authors, the events of the game Vampire unfold in the English capital in the post-war period. The First World War left not only devastation, but also a host of other problems of varying degrees of importance, including the Spanish flu. Almost all Londoners risk not surviving the epidemic, especially in ghetto areas where dysfunctional citizens live. Everyone knows about the raging infection, but the government is doing everything possible to prevent the spread of information about the virus.
The turning point for Londoners was the day when the authorities made an inhuman decision to isolate some of the most unsafe areas of the main city of England. Attempts to keep the spread of infection have led to thousands of deaths and crowded infirmaries.
In such a gloomy atmosphere, we have to play on behalf of Jonathan Reed — a doctor who returned from the war, rushing between two entities. The first — the guise of a healer, makes you blindly follow the oath of Hippocrates and help those in need. The second — the vampire alter ego, constantly requires fresh blood straight from the human cervical artery. It is worth noting that the chief hero became a mystical bloodsucker quite by accident, but this does not negate the fact that his to-do list has replenished with a new item — to find his creator.
