About The Game

The Artful Escape — of Francis Vendetti is an action adventure game released for the PC and XONE platforms. The game tells the story of a young musician named Francis Vendetti. At the beginning of the action, he prepares for his first performance in front of the audience. The problem is that his uncle is a real legend in the industry, and therefore the expectations of the artist’s nephew’s debut are huge. The campaign tells the story of Francis’s attempts to find a unique artistic identity, both in terms of the music he plays and his stage personality. To do this, he embarks on an interdimensional expedition during which he will visit lands inspired by videos of classical music, especially from the works of David Bowie. Mechanically, it’s a mix of platforming and adventure.

Numerous logic puzzles and a conversation system were taken from the latter genre. At the same time, movement only occurs in two dimensions, and players are faced with various agility challenges such as avoiding obstacles and traps or fighting enemies with laser weapons. In addition to all this, elements of a musical game have been added. The main character is dressed in a costume that records and makes sounds. During our adventure, we slowly build a library of recordings and then use it to create our own songs and use them, for example, to hypnotize enemies or unlock locks. The project is based on the Unreal Engine 4 and offers unusual graphics inspired by music videos from the 70s and 80s. Equally interesting is the musical layer with many catchy songs this is due to the fact that the main designer of the game was Johnny Galvatron, who was previously the leader of the rock band The Galvatrons.
