Sunless Skies — is a Gothic Horror role-playing game with an emphasis on research and exquisite stories. The only thing between you and the empty winds, storms and space lightning is your engine. Take care and upgrade it, buy weapons and exotic equipment, and keep its body in good shape to keep enemies in fear. You play the captain of a locomotive, a steam engine adapted for traveling by rail: sailing through the stars, leading your team into trouble and going crazy. Smuggling showers, bartering for time boxes, a cricket stop and a cup of tea.Discover the more deep, dark and amazing universe of Fallen London, as shown in our previous Sunless Sea game. Fight ships of different factions and incomprehensible beasts, each with different attacks and programs. Manage the state of your team and the nightmares of your captain. The balance of fuel and supplies against your desire for new horizons, knowledge or wealth. Fighting looks was never intended for human eyes. How will darkness change you.
Reveal your captain’s past deeds as facets of their personality as you progress. Most captains will die, but their actions will leave a mark in the world for their descendants for better or for worse. Go through some effects and come back again to deal with events triggered by your previous captain. The High Desert is an amazing vision of outer space: moving ruins fluttering in the wind, where the laws of outer space are not what we imagined. The stars are alive. These are judgments: huge intellectuals who rule everything.
But they are dying. One by one, something takes them away, leaving their thrones empty. The Victorian empire, free from trivial things like gravity, pushed its antennae into this new world, and their ambitions are wild. They built a new sun. Empress Victoria rules from the Throne of the Clock, which gives her control over time. Your captain and crew must live a life between the stars. Will you support Her Majesty and the establishment or the working class rebels who long for freedom from the working worlds.
