About The Game

Whole divisions and month long battles are the scale of Battleplan. This historical World War Two strategy game from Foolish Mortals Games and Slitherine simulates huge operations second by second with hundreds of thousands of troops on the map. The battlefields come from real world geographic data so rivers ridges and towns sit where they truly sat. You never micromanage a single soldier. You give high level orders and your officers with their companies carry them out on their own. Scouts report the front engineers dig in and artillery answers on call while you think in hours and days. The plan decides everything and a bad plan bleeds divisions no matter how brave the men are. Time runs in real days and the picture of the front changes hour by hour. The system requirements for this heavy simulation are listed on this page alongside screenshots and gameplay videos.

Planning happens straight on the map. You draw arrows and zones and the game turns them into multi step operations for many units at once. Defence in depth counterattacks and planned withdrawals all exist as real tools. A preparatory bombardment can open a set piece attack and then the division splits to capture several objectives at the same time. Watching a plan survive contact with the enemy is the core thrill because officers improvise when the front bends. Every division carries a real structure with headquarters regiments battalions and companies where infantry tanks engineers anti tank guns artillery and scouts work together. A gap in the chain of command shows instantly because units without orders simply hold and wait. You can combine divisions into corps or split them down to companies and the campaign lets you requisition and upgrade units over time. The scale rewards patience because a single operation can span an entire fictional month of war.
