Murders and Mistresses is a dark choice driven detective adventure for adult players, developed and published by UndergradSteve, released on September 25, 2026. You play an ex conman turned police consultant: cocky, charismatic, and dangerously persuasive. The story spans five detective cases, from homicides and hostage negotiations to kidnappings and locked room mysteries, wrapped in mature romantic drama.

The gameplay is about judgment rather than proof. You read people, form a theory, and name the guilty, often without hard evidence. Two modes let you experience the cases differently: Story Mode follows the narrative, while Detective Mode puts you in charge of the investigation. A branching flowchart for every chapter lets you review missed paths and replay any chapter. Between cases you pursue dates and hangouts across the city, and three marriage paths open depending on your choices, from exclusive to open. The adult romance and mature themes are handled through dialogue and story rather than explicit detail, and the consequences of your judgments shape who trusts you and who turns against you. The cases move from homicides and hostage negotiations to kidnappings and locked room mysteries, and each one asks you to weigh character against evidence.

Your charismatic consultant can bend the room to his will, but every persuasion has a cost, and the relationships you build outside the investigation feed back into how the story ends. Hostage negotiations demand a steady nerve, and locked room mysteries reward close reading of every testimony. Your conman charm opens doors, but it also breeds suspicion among the people you question. Between interrogations and dates the city feels alive, and the marriage paths turn the romance into as much a puzzle as the crimes themselves. Replaying chapters through the flowchart reveals branches you never saw, and the two modes give the same case different textures. Missed evidence in one chapter can echo through later cases.
