About The Game

SiN is a remastered edition of the cult first person shooter of 1998, originally created by Ritual Entertainment and completely rebuilt by Nightdive Studios with publisher Atari. The story throws the player into a near future dystopia in the boots of Colonel John R. Blade, a security consultant who turned fighting crime into a personal religion. His enemy is the seductively evil Doctor Elexis Sinclaire, the chief executive of SinTEK Industries, who begins injecting the streets with a drug that alters human DNA and forces everyone to reassess the laws of morality. The original release pushed the Quake II engine to its limits and survived in memory as a diamond in the rough: a story driven shooter with memorable characters, horrific enemies and a devastating arsenal. The remaster gives that rough diamond a second life on modern systems.

The gameplay is classic late nineties shooting at high speed: run and gun gunplay, weighty weapons and levels packed with enemies, traps and secrets. Blade carries an arsenal that grows heavier with every mission, and firepower matters, because the mutated soldiers and horrific creatures serving SinTEK do not negotiate and do not retreat. Between firefights the story advances through encounters with memorable characters of the dystopia, and the campaign of Doctor Sinclaire unfolds as a personal duel between the colonel and the woman rewriting human genetics for profit. The remastered experience restores the adventure for current hardware, smoothing performance and compatibility while keeping the atmosphere, level design and the rebellious spirit of the original intact. Veterans of the 1998 release return to familiar corridors with new comfort, and players who never met Blade discover one of the most distinctive shooters of its era, complete with the tone and the audacity that made the classic famous. The pacing stays relentless from the first mission to the last, and the remaster is a chance to live through the full campaign the way it was meant to be played, loud, fast and slightly unhinged.
