About The Game

Sunken Sky is an open world action adventure with role playing elements developed by the studio Codenightly. The kingdom at the heart of the story was once swallowed by a neverending conflict, and to stop it the people shook the very foundations of the world, never suspecting what the consequences would be. Afterward came the hard years of rebuilding and forced forgetting, and now a new generation walks through a land full of scars and wonders. The adventure follows a cast of unlikely heroes, a nameless girl seeking to cross the kingdoms, a survivor driven by guilt, and a noble with far too much to prove, whose paths intersect along with, perhaps, their goals. The tale stays mostly lighthearted, telling a story of self development, hope, and discovery in a detailed hand drawn two dimensional style where no place is beyond reach, from the tallest mountains to the very minds of others.

The gameplay combines metroidvania exploration with a generous dose of Japanese role playing game elements. The world is vast and interconnected, inviting the player to climb hazardous mountains, investigate an enchanted forest, and dig into secrets hidden deep underground, with new areas opening as abilities and story progress grow. Combat ranges from the weakest squishy critters to ferocious bosses that guard the key moments of the journey, and alongside battles there are strange people to befriend, because conversations and relationships matter as much as swords in this world. Optional minigames and side activities dot the map, offering lighter pauses between dramatic chapters, and the fishing rod stays home while other diversions take its place. Character growth, party interactions, and the hand drawn presentation give every region its own mood, balancing gentle humor with moments of sincere emotion. It is an adventure that rewards curiosity at every turn and slowly assembles its broken world into something worth saving.
