Needle In A Haystack A Time For Goats is a casual simulation puzzle game developed by Red Key Games. In front of the player stands a tower of hay with one singular task attached: somewhere inside is buried a needle, and finding it wins the ultimate prize. The search pays its own way, because every strand searched earns prestigious hay bucks, and the haystack also hides misplaced things that can be turned in for an extra helping of cash. Around the tower waits a whole industry of hay sorting machines and upgrades, though the fuses for the machines seem to have gone missing, and the goats, true to the title, deserve their own share of honor. The whole enterprise is wrapped in gentle absurd humor that never hurries the player.

The gameplay turns searching into a satisfying loop of work, earnings and clever shortcuts. The player digs through the pile strand by strand, collecting hay bucks for the effort and banking the occasional lost item for bonus rewards. Earnings feed the progression: scattered around the farm stand state of the art hay sorting machines that can be unlocked and upgraded once their lost fuses turn up, and purchased improvements speed every later run. Special tools remove the need to inspect every single straw by hand, letting the search focus on the most promising corners of the tower.
