About The Game
The Onimusha series returns with a completely new installment, and it brings the player back to a Japan distorted by the supernatural. Onimusha Way of the Sword is a dark fantasy action game from CAPCOM where samurai steel meets monsters from the underworld. The series has been dormant for years, and this entry brings it back with a new story and the same brutal swordplay.
The stage is Edo period Kyoto. The historic capital sits under malevolent clouds of Malice, and every street is shrouded in mystery, danger, and intrigue. The clouds of Malice twist the historic capital into a maze of danger, and every corner hides a new threat. The city is famous for its beauty, but what walks its streets now is anything but beautiful.
The Genma come from the underworld, and only one relic can stop them: the Oni Gauntlet, a mystical artifact that grants its bearer the power to slay monsters. The samurai who bears it fights through bloodstained battlefields of intense swordplay, and in gritty, blood soaked fights he searches for his own reason to fight. The path is long, and the Genma grow stronger the deeper into Kyoto the samurai travels.
The question at the end of the road is fate. What awaits the bearer of the Gauntlet at the end of his path is what the story of this installment asks, and the answer lies through every Genma that stands in his way. The combat is fast and punishing, and the timing of every strike matters.
The game offers a full campaign of hand to hand combat against the underworld, built around parry, strike, and the power of the Gauntlet. Onimusha Way of the Sword arrived on 03 September 2026 and is aimed at players who missed the era of big, dark, sword driven action games. CAPCOM built this entry as a return to the roots of the series.
