The game 52, which was released in 2023 thanks to the efforts of the independent studio RedBook, is a very interesting example of how you can combine several calm genres into one coherent project. The developers decided to create a game that will not require you to react quickly or be constantly nervous. This is a very pleasant visual novel with elements of casual simulation that is just perfect for relaxing after a long hard day. The name of the game sounds quite concise and the gameplay itself looks just as concise, where the main emphasis is on calm reading and perception of a very interesting story.

The main part of the game takes place in the format of a classic visual novel where you read a lot, follow the smooth development of the plot and gradually get acquainted with various new characters. Studio RedBook did a great job on the game texts, they are written in a living language and you really want to empathize with the local heroes. But the developers decided not to limit themselves to just text and added elements of simulation to the game. You have the opportunity to actively influence the world around you, interact with various objects and independently make important decisions that will have serious consequences in the future. Each of your conscious choices can change the attitude of other characters towards you or open completely new plot branches. This makes the game much deeper and forces you to be more attentive to every word spoken.

Casual genre of the game fully guarantees that you will be able to go through it at your own very comfortable pace. Absolutely no one is pushing you, you can sit for hours on one screen, listen to pleasant background music and just look at the beautiful static backgrounds of the rooms. The graphics are made in very pleasant and calm tones that do not tire the eyes at all even during long gaming sessions in front of the monitor. There are no complex logical puzzles or confusing game mechanics that need to be studied for a long time. You just launch the game, sit comfortably in your chair and start reading an interactive book where you are the main author of all events.

If you really like quiet and thoughtful games where a good plot and real human emotions come to the fore, then 52 will definitely be able to give you many pleasant hours. This project was created specifically to give players the opportunity to completely distract from everyday hustle and bustle and simply immerse themselves in a beautiful virtual reality.
