About The Game

Flaregate Network is a roguelike deckbuilder developed by Keycard Studio that blends card-based strategy with real-time space combat. Gameplay is divided into two distinct phases: a paused play phase, in which you carefully select and play cards to formulate your strategy, and a battle phase, in which fleets automatically clash in real-time while you observe the events unfold. The game features both a story-driven campaign with space opera elements and a standard campaign, providing endless replayability thanks to randomized missions in which the destruction of the flagship means ultimate failure. Players must strategically build their decks, choosing cards that either create versatile, balanced fleets or focus on specialized strategies for maximum effect.

The combat system is built around damage types: explosive damage is particularly effective against capital ships, while laser damage penetrates all defenses, including shields. The game's story centers on humanity's expansion through the use of Flargate technology, which sparked conflict for three generations until the "Solar Empire" established its dominance. Meanwhile, two more alien factions must be discovered on the eve of humanity's first encounter with intelligent extraterrestrial life. The game combines the tactical depth of deckbuilding with the spectacle of space combat, challenging players to balance immediate tactical decisions with long-term strategic deckbuilding during procedurally generated encounters.
