About The Game

BattleBlock Theater is a platformer with cartoonish graphics and a side-scrolling perspective. It has a simple plot, which is far from the main focus of the genre. The player takes on the role of a prisoner, navigating through various theater levels with one goal: to rescue Hattie Hattington. The gameplay is straightforward at first glance: level progression is linear, with simple, genre-standard jumps and a couple of enemy attacks. The main feature is the dynamic gameplay and the ability to play with a friend. The locations themselves are made of blocks with different properties. There are simple surfaces, sticky walls, disappearing or repulsive blocks, spikes, water, and so on.

Two modes are initially available: Adventure and Arena. You can download entire community-created maps with various missions within them. Throughout the story, you'll complete several chapters, divided into levels. To unlock the next episode, you need to collect enough gems (precious items) and battle the boss. Yarn is another currency. Cat guards will trade you weapons for it. The gameplay revolves around cooperation with the AI ​​or another player. Only teamwork will help you complete each level quickly within the allotted time. If you beat the timer, you'll earn a special A++ grade and additional gems. The Arena is a location for 2-4 players who will participate in specific mini-games to earn points. The one with the most points wins. You can also team up in pairs and compete for team points.
