About The Game

WEGO World War II Overlord is a hexagonal wargame depicting the 1942 German offensive to capture an industrial city. This title consists of historical scenarios and campaigns, allowing players to command forces on a hexagonal grid map. Opponents can control either the German or Soviet side. The game supports AI versus AI combat, as well as multiplayer battles in hotseat or Play by Email modes.

The gameplay mechanics of WEGO World War II Overlord are built on a system that differs from the sequential turn structure of IGOUGO, common in similar games. In this system, both sides plan and issue orders simultaneously, after which actions are resolved together. This game requires strategists to formulate plans and anticipate enemy maneuvers with incomplete information about their intentions. Combat management and decision-making are central to operations.

Both sides have a variety of assets at their disposal that influence battles. Ground units are represented as tokens and range in size from company to regiment. Air forces carry out bombing and reconnaissance missions, while the Soviet naval assets are represented by the Volga River Flotilla, capable of providing fire support. Other available resources include electronic warfare assets, command and control elements, and logistics, which enhance the mobility or combat effectiveness of selected units.
