Dragon Quest X Rise Five Tribes OFFLINE is the tenth installment in one of the most popular jRPG series, and its first MMORPG. Developed by Square Enix, Akira Toriyama, one of Japan's most popular comic book creators, best known for his Dragon Ball manga, once again designed the characters, monsters, and world. The Dragon Quest series first appeared in 1986 and has since seen countless spin-offs and nine mainline installments. Dragon Quest X requires a monthly subscription but offers several hours of free play each day.

As is typical for every subsequent Dragon Quest, the game takes place in a completely new and original fantasy world, this time called Astoltia. It consists of several interconnected continents and islands with diverse flora, fauna, and climates. We begin the game by creating our character, choosing our gender and race (elf, human, ogre, dwarf, waddy, or pooklypo). Like protagonists created by other players, we are a hero sent from heaven, and our mission is presented to us by the first NPCs we meet. As in many other MMORPGs, the story isn't the most important part of the game, and most quests are unrelated to it.

At the very beginning of the game, our character can choose one of five traditional MMO professions. Each of these, along with experience gained, can be developed into entirely new subclasses and skills. Exploring the game world is best done with a party. We can create our own or join other players, which has its advantages. The developers have prepared special team missions and rewards for those who enjoy having fun in company. The game takes place from a third-person perspective. All enemies are visible on the main world map. We begin combat by approaching an enemy. It's turn-based, but players can move freely around the battlefield in real time. During battles, players use special attacks, magic, and various items and potions.

Dragon Quest X 3D graphics are vibrant and reminiscent of those seen in the eighth installment of the series, released on PlayStation 2. The developers strived to accurately capture Akira Toriyama's unique illustration style. However, the system's hardware limitations prevented the implementation of advanced graphical effects. The gameplay is accompanied by a traditional symphonic soundtrack composed by series veteran Koichi Sugiyama.
