Liegecraft is a hybrid of grand strategy and role-playing gameplay, casting players as a medieval monarch forced to manage a network of unpredictable vassals. Each nobleman possesses a set of personality traits and a system of relationships that directly impacts diplomacy and the internal stability of the state. Maintaining a delicate balance between encouraging loyalty and suppressing dissent is a key challenge. Failure to satisfy the ambitions of subjects or resolve their petty squabbles risks bloodshed and all-out civil war.

The process of expanding the realm involves not only military expansion but also the systematic development of provinces. In Liegecraft, researching new technologies unlocks powerful upgrades for the entire kingdom. When diplomatic methods prove ineffective, the time has come to wage large-scale wars, laying siege to castles and commanding vast armies. Captured regions can be transferred to the control of your lords to satisfy their greed and gain strategic advantages on the global map.

In addition to step-by-step planning, the game offers immersion in real-time events. The ruler will host feasts, participate in royal hunts, explore dungeons, and resolve conflicts in personal duels. Players can personally mount a horse and travel throughout their domains or take direct control of one of their vassals to carry out special assignments. Each such action has long-term consequences, influencing relationships at court and strengthening the monarch's power.
