Scrabdackle stands out for its visual style. All graphics in this project were hand-drawn, mixing pencil sketches with pixel art. Visually, this indie title is reminiscent of early Flash games. The video game itself is an adventure with elements of RPG, Metroidvania, and action. The camera is positioned from above and at an angle. The player controls a mage with an inventory and a spellbook. As the character progresses, they acquire various equipment and new spells. Magic and items are used not only in battles with enemies (including bosses). They are also used to solve puzzles and gain access to certain locations.

It is also possible to meet friendly NPCs and chat with them. The player can also abruptly end any conversation with an NPC by simply walking away from them. Furthermore, the player can entertain themselves by searching for secrets and studying magical creatures. The indie game Scrabdackle features a semi-open world. It's divided into different biomes, each with its own musical score. The minimap fills in automatically as you explore the area. The map is divided into squares, each of which fits within the screen. Movement through the locations and battles with monsters occur in real time. The gameplay is similar to early games in The Legend of Zelda series.
