First of all, the entire Wanjieshan game development team would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the players who have supported and looked forward to Wanjieshan. We would also like to apologize for the incidents that occurred during the server launch over the past few days. We are deeply remorseful. As a small team just starting out, this launch did encounter many unexpected issues. Thank you for your tolerance and understanding.
Let me be candid about yesterday's server launch:
When the server launched at 10:00 AM yesterday, we anticipated various scenarios. Our boldest predictions for popularity were more than tenfold lower than the actual level of popularity. This was essentially a good thing, a gift from heaven. The problem was that we were woefully underprepared to handle this enormous gift. Due to excessive server pressure, we had to shut down the server for maintenance at 11:00 AM, which caused significant disruption to everyone's first experience.
At the time, we had two options:
One was to simply add more servers, but this would prevent everyone from playing with friends on different servers;
The other was to spend more time implementing multi-server multiplayer. While more complex, it would preserve the experience of seamless switching.
Ultimately, we chose the second option. Being able to play with friends is incredibly important. The trade-off is a longer wait for updates.
After the server reopened at 8 PM last night, we discovered some new issues:
Some players were stuck on the main quest.
Abnormal Spirit Damage during PKing prevented resurrection.
Mysterious Cave was freezing.
Some players were experiencing rollbacks.
Loading freezes occurred after 9 AM.
Regarding rollbacks:
Players who experienced loading freezes between 9 and 10:30 AM this morning may experience a rollback of approximately 10 minutes.
Our technical team is currently working tirelessly to fix these issues. Although we're a small team, everyone is working tirelessly to ensure everyone can play the game smoothly as soon as possible.
We know the experience isn't perfect yet, but we want to share the following:
We will continue to optimize the servers to ensure smoother gameplay.
We will rapidly expand our staff and establish a 24/7 support system to ensure timely responses to your questions.
We will regularly update you on patch progress.
