About The Game

The Book of Aaru is an isometric action RPG set in an alternate Ancient Egypt where mythology meets advanced sci-fi technology. You play as Emily Sands, an explorer from 1926 who disappeared while searching for the Temple of Osiris and now exists as a cursed being stripped of her humanity. The game takes inspiration from Hades and Curse of the Dead Gods, but introduces its own innovations, such as an active meta-progression that rewards exploration and destruction of the environment, rather than just level completion.

Combat is based on a dual-wielding system, where you wield two weapons at once to perform devastating combos. A unique slow-motion mechanic turns slow motion into a tool of destruction and invulnerability, complemented by a glyph upgrade system that combines armor-boosting perks. Each run features randomly assembled levels built around handcrafted scenes filled with challenging traps and environmental storytelling.

The game places an emphasis on the player choosing between dangerous paths full of treasure and safer routes with fewer rewards. You’ll face deadly sandstorms that stalk and destroy everything around you, navigate deadly traps, and take on intense boss fights in ever-changing dungeons. Multiple weapon classes offer different attack patterns and strategies, and craftable power-ups provide temporary advantages at the cost of valuable meta-progress materials. Each run promises a unique mix of familiar yet surprising challenges in this treacherous labyrinth.
