Wing Commander IV The Price of Freedom 30th restores the cinematic chapter of the series from Origin Systems and Electronic Arts. Mark Hamill, John Rhys Davies, Malcolm McDowell and Tom Wilson carry a story about a conflict that turns out to be built on lies. Missions alternate between space combat and branching dialogue where the wrong sentence closes a door. Every choice between missions narrows the list of people willing to fly beside you. Requirements, screenshots and gameplay videos are all on the page, and the captures show how much of the original film work survived the restoration. Flight combat is lighter than in the earlier games, which fits a story that spends more time on politics than on patrols. The campaign is short enough to invite a second pass with a completely different crew. The result is a game that plays like a war drama with cockpits between the scenes.

The FMV scenes number more than two hundred and seventy five. All of them were rebuilt from source masters and cut back into the game. An optional upscale pass sharpens the footage, while the original version remains available for anyone who prefers the grain. The performances are the point, and the restoration keeps the faces readable on a modern screen. Choices change who stands beside you at the end, and some exits are permanent. The story asks a question about loyalty that the shooting alone could never carry. It is the most cinematic entry in the series, and the restoration treats it that way.
