About The Game

The Prisoning Fletchers Quest is a combination of Metroidvania and psychological horror, played from a side-scrolling perspective. After a failed visit to a psychologist, the player finds themselves trapped in the mind of Fletcher Howe Jr., a game developer on the brink of physical and emotional burnout in the final stages of a tense project. The plot is partially based on a true story, and the journey leads through the labyrinthine subconscious, where anxiety manifests in dangerous zones reminiscent of game levels.

The goal is to escape this state, defeat internal enemies, and return to normal. The story is told through levels, images, enemies, and more. The gameplay combines elements of horror, platforming, and side-scrolling action. Players must navigate dozens of procedurally generated levels filled with dangers, traps, and monsters. They must be overcome, defeated, or outwitted. The game is filled with terrifying moments and a sense of hopelessness. Behind every door lies a series of brutal rooms. The gameplay itself is quite hardcore, and some levels will require multiple completions to reach the end. The game uses 2D pixel graphics with a side-facing camera, creating a retro vibe.
