SGS Fall Weiss (White Plan in German, the codename for the operation) encapsulates the Polish campaign from September to October 1939. World War II’s commencement was officially marked by Germany’s invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939. This «official» start date is noteworthy because Hitler initially aimed to initiate the operation on August 26. Due to diplomatic considerations, the launch was postponed.
