About The Game

In most strategy games, you paint the map. You claim territory, build colonies, and defend your borders. Stellaris Nomads asks: what if you did none of that. What if you just wandered. Developed by Paradox Development Studio and published by Paradox Interactive for release in 2026, this expansion transforms Stellaris into a game about movement, not expansion. You are a fleet of refugees, explorers, or merchants. You have no home planet. You cannot build starbases. Your only resource is your fleet, and your only goal is to keep it alive as you drift from star to star.

The latest version introduces a new "Memory of Home" mechanic. As you travel, you collect cultural artifacts from planets you visit. These artifacts can be used to unlock unique bonuses, like better engine efficiency or increased trade value. But if you stay too long in one system, your people grow complacent and your artifact collection stops growing. You must keep moving. The expansion also adds three new Nomad specific origins. The "Wandering Exiles" start with a damaged fleet fleeing a crisis. The "Void Nomads" have never known a planet and are adapted to zero gravity. The "Merchant Caravan" focuses on trade and profits.

The game supports both single player and multiplayer. In multiplayer, you can even merge your fleet with another nomad player, creating a massive caravan. The diplomacy system has been expanded to include nomadic federations, where multiple wandering fleets share resources and protect each other. The art style is breathtaking, with nebulae that you can actually fly through, leaving trails of stardust behind. The soundtrack features tracks inspired by Mongolian throat singing and space ambient.
